This past weekend we were busy visiting Greg's and my Grandparents. Well mostly Greg's grandparents. I did get into see Grandma on Monday morning, so I guess that is kinda part of part of the weekend.
On Saturday we had a pretty full day. We left the house by 10:00 to visit my mother-in-law's father who has been admitted to the hospital. Unfortunately he isn't doing so well. They have started him with hospice and have stopped his dialysis. They don't expect him to live for very long. This has been really rough on Forrest. He just loves his great-grandpa Hunt and is having a really hard time with him being so sick. We have had numerous conversations about GreatGrandpa Hunt finally being able be healthy and see his wife again. I think it has really helped him to know that this isn't the end. We will be able see Great-grandpa Hunt again as well as Grandpa Forrest.
After we left the hospital I dropped Forrest and Greg off to play soccer, in the rain. Most of the parents stayed in the car, but Greg was a real trouper and sat on the side lines cheering Forrest on. Luckily for both of them they cut the game short so they didn't have to stay out in the rain for too long.
After soccer we headed over to Wingers to meet with Greg's Aunt Cathy for lunch. Everyone had a great lunch. Forrest even really liked the spicy BBQ wings. Once lunch was over we headed out in the pouring ran to go visit my father-in-law's mother. We don't see get see Greg's Grandma very much so it was a real treat. The kids did great while we were there. They spent most of the time being mauled by the dogs and loving it. We spent most of the afternoon visiting with Greg's family and finally headed home around 4:00.
All and all it was an exhausting day, but a good one. The kids were able to spend some time with their great grandparents and Mikel Ann even made an appearance. Hopefully this won't be the last time we see some of them before they pass on.
