Making Progress

March 10, 2009

It seems like we are finally making progress with Eliza's room. This weekend Greg worked really hard and was able to install all the boards. Now all we need is a little touch ups here and there and then we can paint. Of course Greg is now sicker than a dog and can't really do anything.

Our family has been dealing with a lovely cold bug the last couple of weeks. Eliza got if first and it still seems to be hanging on. Forrest got it second. He came home from school Friday sneezing up a storm. By that night he was cough and hacking everywhere. On Saturday he sounded much worse, but it was the Union Station annual train show. Forrest had been looking forward to this all week. Being the bad mom that I am I let him go. Hopefully he didn't infect too many people. By Saturday night I was pretty sure he that he would have stay home from church the next day. He sounded awful. I was even thinking that he might have to miss a couple of days of school. That of course was until Sunday morning when he woke up all better. He still has a little bit of a stuffy nose and will cough occasionally, but on the whole he is all better. I sure wish I could get over colds that way. I think Greg wishes the same thing. He started feeling a little under the weather Friday night, but still worked hard all day Saturday to finish Eliza's room. Of course by Sunday he was completely under the weather. He still went into work to day, but I suspect he will be warming the couch most of tonight. And of course last but not least I woke up this morning with a sore throat. I am hoping I only get a mild case, or maybe have a miraculous recovery like Forrest. Either way I really don't have time to get sick so of course this would be the time it would happen.

Steady, but Slow Progress

March 4, 2009

We are still working on Eliza's room. I am the type of person that want things done yesterday. Unfortunately for us we haven't had one good day for Greg to really work on the room.
This is how her room looked last Saturday.
After working on it off and on this is where it is finally at. Not much to look at, but Eliza seems to think it is done and wants to move all her stuff back in. We have finished all the easy parts; removing the base boards, taking down the wallpaper and prepping the walls. Now comes the hard part. Cutting all the boards and getting them up on the walls. Hopefully then we will finally be able to paint. Greg has half of Friday off and miracles of miracles we have nothing going on this Saturday. I am hoping that this weekend we will be able to make some real progress. I am getting anxious to see how it is going to turn out.

Lazy Sundays

February 22, 2009

We now have late church. Keeping the kids entertained can sometimes be a real chore. Greg is such a trouper he is always willing to play with the kids and give me a little break.

Eliza's Bedroom

February 19, 2009

I have I ever told you how much I love being married to an engineer. All the engineer jokes are pretty true, but for some things those traits really come in handy.

We are going to re-paint Eliza's room. I want to do some slats on the wall. Greg didn't know if it would look good so he drew a 3-D model so that we could see what it would look like. After getting it all done he decided that all that work just might be worth it.

Greg even did several different diagrams so that I was able to pick the one I liked the most. Now that we have it all drawn up we just have to get started. Of course that might take a little time the way things keep breaking around here. Greg will be spending most of his time fixing things not trying to build something

Big Brothers

February 18, 2009

Forrest: Do you know how to do this?
Eliza: YA.
Forrest: Oh man you just killed my guy. Do you know how to do this?
Eliza: YA.
Forrest: You just killed my guy again. Do you really know how to do this.
Eliza: YA
Forrest: Oh man he is dead again. I don't think you know how to do this.
Eliza: Ya

Quick Catch-up

February 17, 2008

Since I haven't blogged for awhile I figure I need to catch-up luckily for me nothing really has gone on that is too exciting.

Forrest has lost another tooth and he has started taking Karate again were they have started to fake fight. I am sure he will loose another tooth just from this. Forrest has discovered games on the computer and tries to spend most of his time playing them. He is doing really well in school and can't wait until summer.

Eliza is working really hard on her speech. She learns a new word about once a week. We don't always know what she is saying, but we are just happy she is progressing. My new favorite work is Otay ma. It is so cute when she says it.

We also cut her hair. I am never sure when I do it, but afterwords I am so happy. She always looks so cute. She is also finally potty trained. This was our third attempt and it was successful. We started on Thursday and by Sunday she was potty trained with no accidents. I love that my kids do that. They are pretty stubborn, but once they decide to do it they are potty trained.

Nothing much is going on in my life. While the computer was down I had Greg help me organize the pantry. I am really excited about it.

It looks so much nicer. Greg finally was able to buy enough spice racks for all my spices. Of course now that I can see them all I realize I have a ton of duplicates.

Poor Greg he just keeps plodding along. He was able to go snowmobiling last weekend, but other than that he is just trying to put out fires. First he had to fix the computer and now the Suburban is giving him fits. I keep telling him this is what happens when you own really old stuff. Maybe this will be the turning point and we will just buy a new car. HaHaHa. That is pretty funny. That will never happen around here.

A Whole Lot of Nothing

February 12, 2009

Tap, Tap, Tap. Anyone there? It has been a long time since I blogged last. In January I was wrapping up the February Newsletter when the computer screen went black. Soon after I started to smell something burning. I called to Greg to come check it out and he took his sweet time getting downstairs. By time he got downstairs smoke was coming out of the computer. I quickly turned it off and Greg started to investigate. It seems that our power source decided to burn up. The computer was completely shot and I was up a creek. All my hard work on the newsletter was lost and I needed to e-mail the newsletter to a girl that night. I ended up having to run up to Greg's parents house to finish it. It was not a pretty sight. Since Greg and I had been talking about getting a new computer Greg started ordering the parts. It took about a week to get here and then another week for Greg to get it all put together. Of course there was another week just trying to get the computer the way I liked it. Needless to say it was a long wait. Hopefully now we won't have any more computer problems. Of course now that I have said that we will get some horrible virus.
